FMC Report Drives Clarity through Port Pipeline

GSC Logistics ∕ June

Maritime Commission (FMC) in the US, Rebecca Dye, published a report on a two-year investigation into how the pandemic impacted liner transportation. The report suggests that the liner market remained competitive and that the supply chain pain experienced over the last two years was due to consumer demand.

Her report included 12 recommendations directly impacting specific port and supply chain operations. Recently, US politicians have begun to give the FMC greater oversight and jurisdiction. Still, politicians are being urged to act further, partly based on a global port productivity report showing that the US ports and gateways were listed among the worst performers globally.
